Webinar: Why Psychological Safety Matters in the Workplace
This session explored the concept of psychological safety, what it is and is not, and examine why building a culture of psychological safety is emerging as a high priority on the agendas of many business leaders. Key questions we addressed included: What are the unintended consequences of a workplace that lacks psychological safety? Why are business leaders focusing on it and arguably most importantly, how do we foster a culture of psychological safety at work where people feel safe to speak up and use their voice?

In the UK, LGBTQ+ month starts in February. 2022 marks an important year for Pride organisers in the UK as it is the 50th anniversary of the very first UK Pride held in London 1972. In this webinar we discussed how to get ready for this anniversary, what to do and how to communicate it. We explored Pride history, its language and where it comes from.

Employee Networks in HTL & Retail Conference
Employee networks or employee resource groups (ERGs), representing different and specific groups from diverse communities, can help to create an inclusive environment in which everyone in an organisation feels like they belong.
On 2nd February, we brought together Employee network leaders to share best practices and explore what companies across the HTL and Retail sectors are doing with regards to ERGs, how they can be used to support D&I goals, what opportunities leaders have to improve their reach and engagement and assist to create a culture that allows employees to bring their whole selves to work.
We are currently collating the key learnings into a toolkit which will be available to DiR and WiHTL members only and be published at the end of February.
Transgender Awareness Webinar Recording: How to Create a Supportive Workplace for All
To shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by transgender employees in the workplace during this Transgender Awareness Week, we hosted an incredibly insightful discussion on how organisations can move the dial on creating a fully inclusive environment.
Our speakers included recent Hero Award winner at the European Diversity Awards, Bobbi Pickard who shared her moving story and experiences as a member of the trans community. We were also joined by Polly Shute, Co-Founder of Out And About LGBTQ who revealed some fascinating albeit shocking statistics on the lives of those who identify as transgender, and Matthew Case, Regional Operations Manager for Premier Inn who described how being an ally to the trans community within his organisation brings greater awareness of discrimination and helps initiate uncomfortable but necessary conversations.
